This month of May when it’s supposedly hot and humid in many
parts of India, Bangalore has just blossomed. I cannot stop loving the weather
here! It swings your mood and lift up your spirits for no rhyme or reason. Peeping
outside your window or balcony, letting the breeze woo you as it plays with your hair, splashes
of water making polka dots design on your hands and face. It touches your soul.
Few things that everyone does when it rains-
1) Tea and pakora- Like tuning to our favourite FM
channel, the ‘the thing’ that’s tempting when it rains is to definitely have
tea and pakora. Most desired and craved Indian snack I must say! Nothing can
match crispy pakoras with steaming masala tea. It’s mouth-watering and yummilicious.
2) Dance in the rain – Who hasn't experienced the
joy of dancing in the rain? Looking up at the sky and jumping. Doesn't matter
if we catch cold later. But that moment we have lived, right? Dancing in the
rain isn't just a girls thing. Like a typical Bollywood scene where only the girl
dances in the rain while the guy smiles seeing her dancing. Guys just don’t sit
and watch, be a part of it. Do all the junglee, fun patang movements with your friends and family and romantic
ball dance with your partner.
3) Make paper boat – Ahh, remember the childhood days
preparing paper boats for the first stream of rain. The feeling still excites
me. Passing by the corridor in the society I stop when I see kids making boats
and putting them to sail. Like a Caption of the ship you are happy and proud to
see it sail, though you are not in the boat. Lol.
4) Watch a good movie – Relaxing while watching a
good movie accompanied with popcorn. Breeze flowing gently as the temperature
drops gives a different ambience and a perfect set up.
5) Go for candle-light dinner- Romantic couples don’t
need any reason to be cosy, but when it rains they surely have one. :P Spending an exquisite
time with loved ones over dinner, laughing and conversing with rain rhyming in
the background. Cheering to the good times that make the difference.
6) Talent show – Rain is a
mood changer and it brings out your talent without you even noticing it
sometimes. For a person who loves to sing will automatically start singing to
herself/himself. A writer will pick up a pen and a guitarist his/her guitar. That’s
the charm of the rain.
7) Cake and coffee- Complete delight. Devilish
combination that’s worth having. I am a big coffee lover. If you make me good
coffee with chocolate cake I’ll be your friend always. :P Just like you give candies to kids to make them smile and be your friends.
8) Go for a night drive – When the road is silent
from the day long hustle-bustle and it drizzles- it calls for a night
drive. Slow music playing with wipers swinging sometimes slow and sometimes
fast in tune to the rain. The street lights reflect on the shining bright roads
(after raining), giving a magical new look. It feels fresh and transformed from
the numbingly familiar journey.
9) Throwing stones on a puddle of mud and water –
Gosh I have done it number of times. Fetching the bigger ones in size so that
splash is huge. :) Watching
the ripples it makes in the water while counting the same.
10) Sharing a small umbrella –
Holding your loved ones tightly while walking in the rain with an umbrella. When
you are half wet and also covered. The care or sometimes the fight that
happens, as to who is getting more wet and who has a major share of umbrella. Ahh,
lovely moments.
11) Remember all the famous songs choreographed in
rain – Hehe, this one is something that always is a part of imagination. Songs
like ‘tip tip barsa paani’ from movie Mohra, ‘Kante nahi katte’ from Mr. India
are few that just flash in a fraction of a second. All my guy friends are just
head over heel over these songs. :P
12) Recollecting old memories – Going down the
memory lane while idly watching rain pour down and listening to the noise it
makes. Memories that make you smile or memories that make you cry and you hide
your tears by letting the rain droplets merge with tears.
13) Making your favourite dish – It doesn't have to
be a time-consuming complicated dish. It can simple and quick just like Maggi! I
love to have my share of maggi in a mug. Well you can call it as my thing. You
serve me maggi in a designer bowl or in a plate, but the way it tastes in a mug
is altogether different.
14) Click photographs – A good camera doesn't make you a good photographer, but nobody misses practising and experimenting especially when it rains. Droplets and splashes captured in a frame perfectly are
mind-blowing.
15) Looking for a rainbow – With fingers crossed I
always look around for a rainbow. I love rainbows (you can click here to read
my earlier blog on the same). When a rainbow flaunts with vibrant colours it feel like the Gods above gave a perfect show. After the drum roll opening by rainfall, the finale with a touch of excellence with Rainbow.
To the weather that’s worth trumpeting!!!
