Two back-to-back incidents that just happened this week and
kept in ‘the-happy-me-state’
First:
The scene-
Sweating and slogging in the gym doing leg exercises (okay I am not a very
happy soul when it comes to going to the gym, but now I have a reason, would share
some other time).
The conversation:
‘Are you Aastha?’ she smiled at me.
‘Yes.’ I said taking a break from the leg press I had been
doing.
‘Gosh, didn’t you recognise me?’ her voice in total awe.
She does have a familiar face. Oh God when will I improve, I
am so bad at recognising people. I think
hard but of no use. Surely I have seen her somewhere, I know her.
‘Umm... not really. Cannot recall but surely we have met.’ I
said in a confused state.
‘We were in the same tuition batch man, Accounts one. We
used to have so much fun together.’ She giggled and explained the whole
whereabouts of the place where the tuition was.
‘Oh yes!’ The whole tuition scene flashed in front of me in
a fraction of a second. Our tutor used to speak Hindi in an American accent
though he had never been to abroad in his lifetime (well we
students had no clue about it. The attitude was what's the harm in saying so?
The famous notion had bagged us hysterical laughs :) ). ‘ Shweta, right?’ I asked in anticipation.
‘Yes my dear.’
We hugged each other.
‘What a coincidence! We were in different schools but same
tuition batch in Dehra Dun like ages back and now in Bangalore and that too in
the same apartment building.’ I beamed like a 100 watt bulb.
‘And the same block.’ A common friend pitched in.
We laughed holding our hands.
Second:
One of my friends, elder sister got relocated in Bangalore. So,
I asked her where exactly she is putting up. My friend had a vague idea so she
exchanged our numbers. Finally, I had a word with her sis and guess what; she
is also in my apartment building. It’s so rightly said- ‘it’s a small world’, seems it
has just squeezed in the last one week. Now, let me also reveal what makes it all the
more special. This friend of mine I have known since couple of years, we talk
and communicate but have never met! It’s difficult to have an association so
nice with someone you have not met, as in what one will talk, how you will
strike a chord between. But when it has to happen it happens. Sometimes it
takes a moment to like someone and sometimes a life time. So finally I am going
to meet her sis this weekend and that too before meeting my friend. What a
teaser I have.
Some old strings that we had left back in time suddenly come
and greet us warmly. Is it all planned
or destined, or just mere coincidences. I don’t know. What I know is that
surely they bring a smile and long lost memories like a fresh air of joy.
Embracing the joy :)
