Prisoners...

By Unknown   Posted at  12:03:00 AM   Poems 2 comments

Prisoners of past
Lost in the thoughts
With dismay and hurt we hold it until our last

Prisoners of guilt
Stuffed with suffocation that kills
Wish we had a fleet

Prisoners of anger
Caught in the rut
Keeps on triggering to make the matters worse

Prisoners of ego
Artificially boasting ourselves
Why not deflate it and let it go?

Remove all these demons
Fight with them
And break them down

Demons are not around
They are within us
Hidden in us they mask them up

Break the shackles
And break free
Don’t hold back and suppress

We are priceless
Let’s cherish our existence
Rise above the trivial things

There’s no fun in being a ‘human being’
Let’s just modify it
And be a ‘happy being’.

Shoe fetish!

By Unknown   Posted at  2:46:00 PM   Musings 6 comments
Shoes, a small word with a whole world in it! From stilettos to flats, pumps to ballet pumps, ankle boots to high heeled boots, strappy heels to flats, low heeled loafers to converse, and not to forget sportswear. I get a glint in my eyes just by the thought of it. No points for guessing that I have a shoe fetish.

Concept background with shoes and rosesThe more I have, the more I crave. It’s one of my fantasies to have a room built in classy fashion just for my shoes. With a beautiful chandelier and back-lit display, they can just come alive. My little assets (my shoes) delicately displayed on the shelves, some on wooden surface and some on a glass base. A big mirror is definitely a plus. I see myself admiring each and every inch of the room in my dreams.  Will I ever be able to do it? Sigh!

Shoes drive me crazy. My brain scans shoes of a person first while meeting. The funny part is I may not remember you by your features your face or by name, but surely I’ll remember you by your shoes.  That’s my little secret and the extent of craziness. Funny? That’s me. :)

A Few days ago I went to hospital for follow-up, waited quite long in the lobby for the doctor to arrive. The staff told us (me and my husband) that she’s on her way and would reach soon. I was hooked on to my novel and my husband was glued to his phone. Time passed for him and paused (as I was reading) for me. With my head down I saw ‘the brown flats’ rushing down the aisle. Until the time I could look at the person, she went speeding out of my sight.

‘Did you see that was the doctor?’ I asked my husband.

‘Nope.’ he said.

‘That was surely the doctor, I remember her shoes.’ I said confidently.

He gave me blank looks.

‘You bet! Notice her sandals when we go to the visiting room, it’s brown flats with a bow. Also, the last time she was wearing same.’

He gave a big snort of laughter and went completely breathless at my analogy.

Finally we were called in for the appointment.

‘See I told you!’ I said excitedly.

‘That is just a mere co-incidence.’ He said with a smile.

As soon as we entered the room, our eyes were on her shoes. We exchanged looks and tried to curb the giggles. I was so darn right!

It’s difficult even for me to understand this mysterious phenomenon. I am too carefree to notice a thing that imprints in my mind. Many times it has happened with me that I notice something new (according to me) and compliment people for the same. It could be a wall piece, hair style or any object. I then get back a quizzical look since it has been there for ages, but I never noticed. I guess with shoes it’s a different tale altogether.

Shoes and bags
I see footwear and I go mad. Every time we go to a mall, my husband tries to avoid places where I can see a shop with beautifully displayed shoes. He thinks that he is smart and I do not notice what he is trying to do. Within no time, he finds me vanished and he knows where to find me. We have a separate shoe rack at home for me and him, but to his despair I have encroached his space as well. That my friend is a true and wicked shoe lover!!

In colloquial sense I am high on shoes (not specifically heels :) ).

Festivals and celebrations

By Unknown   Posted at  11:17:00 PM   Musings No comments
A day full of festivities around. After 33 years, Eid and Hariyali Teej have fallen on the same day. Major chunk of households are in celebration mood today, thus jubilation is many folds. Prayers and greetings, laughter and hugs, women dressed up to their best – palms full with spectacular henna designs and tattoos, dancing and playing games. Elaborate sumptuous feast with mouth watering goodies. The aromatic smell that just tantalizes you!

The essence of Teej is celebration of love- love of a wife for her husband. A symbol of victory of love, as it’s the day union of Shiva and Parvati after her many rebirths. The celebration thus is epitomized by women fasting and offer prayers to Goddess Parvati. Adorn with beautiful sarees augmented with jewelery, henna on palms. How so beautiful, Indian women just look scintillating. The celebration is embarked by songs, dance and swing rides.

Today Eid is celebrated after the holy month of Ramadan Kareem. It’s the month to purify oneself. To surrender completely to Allah and to serve the people is the whole essence (Allah ki ibadat aur bandeh ki khidmat). Annual practice of fasting in Ramazan is like a spiritual reflection and rehearsal.
The Holy Quran says: "Ramadan is the month in which we sent down the Holy Quran, as a guide to mankind, also clear Signs for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong)."
Eid is a celebration of successful completion of Ramazan, following the commands with strength and vigor. After the special prayer offered in the mosques or open places, the entire day people greet each other and meet all friends, neighbors and relatives. With hugs, love and laughter Eid is cherished and enriched.

Festivals bind us all in a unique way. We forget the past and celebrate today and look forward to tomorrow!
Wishing you all a very happy Teej and Eid Mubarak.

Crossword

By Unknown   Posted at  10:46:00 PM   Musings 3 comments

Crossword, a word puzzle that we all love. It’s one of our favorite fun play pass times. Totally keeps us intrigued and glued till the time we crack it. I remember, back then in college life we (friends) used to sit in the evenings for chit chat and solve crosswords. So much fun it was!

Whenever I look at crosswords I have a feeling how similar it is to our lives. Life is a form of a grid with right words that fit in. Words have enormous significance in our daily lives that we cannot deny a bit. It has white and black squares. White symbolizes all the right, wisely, apt and correct words spoken whereas black symbolizes the dark patches, words that false play, hurt and agonize.

In white columns also there is segregation. The white cell that is part of only one entry is called ‘unchecked’. Why unchecked? As it doesn't have an audience to register and note what is being said when. In our thoughts whatever we think is only known by us, so it’s unchecked, far away from cynicism. Multiple thoughts run in our mind daily. The white cell that is part of both the entries i.e. across and down is called ‘checked’. Yes, checked it is as what we speak is observed and felt by people around, whom we love and adore.

Words, what we speak, what we write, what we hear and read form an essential part of being. I strongly believe words have a life of their own! Words have power to integrate and devastate, stimulate and appreciate, congregate and predominate.

Words can make or break you. Be passionate and let your heart speak.

“It’s only words, and words are all I have is to take your heart away” kudos to Boyzone! :)

Happy Friendship Day!

By Unknown   Posted at  1:20:00 AM   Musings No comments

What a fabulous day! From phone calls to WhatsApp, Facebook to E-mails, E-cards to songs. Have been talking, laughing and pressing the keys of my phone typing the entire day. It’s such a high to catch up with all your loved ones in a single day!

Why only one day to celebrate friendship? It’s to be cherished and nurtured lifelong. Nothing best can describe me than the image on the right. I have had some of the craziest moments with my best friends. I miss you guys so much! Settled in different places today but connected always, network that never breaks. In this so called sophisticated world, the unsophisticated moments are with friends. Just a few friends and tons of memories, memories that keep on multiplying- what else one needs in life.

Friends who are still a part of my life and friends who have parted ways, thank you all for all the fun-frolic, bizarre escapades. For being there in the highs and the lows. From emotionally shattered to blithesome days.

Happy Friendship Day to all my dear friends, wish our ship sails through safely in the journey called life! With you all it’s a magic redefined every time. You guys are my world!

Stay blessed.

Love loads :)

My diary, my blog

By Unknown   Posted at  1:32:00 AM   Musings 4 comments

After a very long break I am back. Back to write and share, feel and express and moreover to do what gives me pleasure. My secret diary has been my best friend since childhood, and still is! Today, with the technology advancements my diary is replaced by Word docs, Google docs and Evernote. :)

It seems like ages when actually in a literal sense I have picked up my pen and wrote something on paper. Everything said and done, I really do miss my diary sometimes. The flowery outlook, some even with locks (I used to find it extremely fascinating back in school days :)), the fresh unique smell of paper, those little abstract designs or flowers I used to make while penning down something, that feeling to hide it from all!

Gosh! How I used to like it all.

Now I just randomly use any of the productivity tools. As not being a very self disciplined person it creates confusion for me, seems my thoughts are divided into different compartments! So I thought I should keep blogging more often and make it my diary. Cannot say my blog is a secret companion with a lock but yes my best friend where I am what I am!  :)
